Job Description Summary: 


The procurement specialist will manage relationships and contracts with a company’s suppliers to ensure the best pricing, delivery, safety, and service. Will oversee the ordering of materials a business uses through analyzing costs, negotiating contract details, and offering strategies and solutions to help companies better manage total cost of ownership on supplies and vendor services. Additional duties include managing inventory, tracking orders, resolving issues concerning disputes, reporting, and making bids for a vendor’s services. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 


• Duties include preparing and initiating invitation to bids to selected suppliers, negotiation, Purchase Order award, and Purchase Order close-out of equipment and services, including managing supplier performance aspects of major projects and contracts 

• Works closely with the Sourcing leads, Material Coordinators and network of Project Managers 

• Review planned Bill of Materials to ensure Purchase Orders are created prior to commitment and approval process 

• Transmits approved purchase orders with appropriate supporting documents to Supplier and tracks acknowledgement by Supplier, confirm system lead time, delivery date and cost 

• Reviews, updates and maintains open Purchase Orders until closed 

• Reports Supplier non-conformances and prepares return documentation to Supplier with follow up until resolved 

• Work with all relevant parties in the consolidation, reduction and rationalization of the local supplier base and achieve cost improvement targets assigned by Manager 

• Serve as the single point of contact for Suppliers questions, leads supplier conference calls or meetings for the resolution or mitigation plans of key or critical issues to ensure alignment with project expectations. 

• Assists on the preparation of reporting and KPI measurement (e.g. savings report) 

• Assist in developing and maintaining Supplier Relationship Management program 


Skills & Abilities: 


• Maintains the highest level of ethical and professional standards of conduct 

• Provides onboarding and training support, mentoring and development of team members • Identifies common contract risk areas and advises program level business representatives 

• Serves as a recognized expert on a specific category or categories of supply 

• Strong working knowledge of project-based procurement of specially engineered, complex equipment for large scale projects 

• Must be able to adapt to varying project specific requirements and timing requirements 

• Must be organized and able to effectively multitask and pro-actively manage multiple purchase orders on different projects, including managing Suppliers as necessary 

• Experienced with exporting/importing material 

• Able to work independently, and with others and as appropriate coach and lead others 


Education and/ or Work Experience:


• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Engineering, Manufacturing or equivalent related experience 

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement, supply chain, planning, or material management position 

• Strong Substation and Transmission line experience preferred 

• Able to effectively communicate commercial solutions and concepts to procurement personnel and non-procurement personnel 

• Advanced Excel user and proficient in MS Office suite
